Message from the Curator

Paglagivsi! Greetings and welcome to the Simon Paneak Memorial Museum and home to the Nunamiut People of Anaktuvuk Pass, Alaska.

If you have visited our Museum, I hope you have enjoyed your visit to our community and have a safe return trip home. I also hope you will recommend to your friends and family that they too visit our museum and experience all our small community has to offer. As one visitor remarked “it’s like visiting a little piece of heaven with all the friendly angels to greet you”.

As you can imagine, I am very proud of our museum because it works with us to help retain and pass down our heritage to our young people as well as to share with and educate visitors like yourself who are interested in our fascinating mountain way of life, both past and present.

In our Inupiaq way of life, there are no good byes in our language, but only to hope to see you someday again.

Thank you and have a wonderful day!
