The Housing Department is located in the Public Works building in Utqiaġvik. Our Department is organized into three Divisions: Upgrades, Property Management, and Housing Development.

The North Slope Borough Housing Department understands that housing is more than just a physical space; it is the foundation of a strong community. The Housing Department is dedicated to providing safe, affordable, and quality housing options for all residents of the North Slope Borough.
Through the development, maintenance, and management of housing, the department seeks to ensure that every community member has access to a comfortable and secure place to call home. By focusing on affordability, accessibility, and quality, the department is dedicated to improving the standard of living for all residents, supporting the growth of vibrant, connected neighborhoods.
Whether developing new projects, maintaining existing properties, or assisting residents with their housing needs, the Housing Department strives to create a secure and welcoming environment where everyone can thrive.

The North Slope Borough Housing Summit, held January 22-24 in Anchorage, brought together partners, tribal leaders, stakeholders, and community members to explore solutions for expanding housing opportunities across the North Slope.
This summit provided a valuable platform for discussions on innovative strategies, infrastructure challenges, and pathways to increasing safe, affordable housing in our communities. The engagement and dedication of our participants will help shape the future of housing in the region.
