Effective March 2026 all NSB Planning Permit Applications must be submitted electronically on our North Slope AK Portal website. You will create a profile and use that profile for all permit applications moving forward. It is very user friendly and should you have any questions, please e-mail NSBPermitSubmittal@north-slope.org and someone from our Land Management Division will get back with you.
Below are instructions of our applications for your reference and review prior to filling out the electronic application.
Land Use Permit Instructions:
- Form 200 Commercial Recreation Permit
- Examples: CWAT Freight Haulers & Transporters and Guiders
- Form 300 Rezoning and Master Plan Permit
- Form 300 Rezoning and Master Plan Permit Supplement
- Examples: Oil and Gas Operators rezoning land from conservation to resource development
- Form 400 Study Permit
- Example: Field studies conducted by professional researchers; scientific studies that may impact the land use in and around a surround community.
- Form 900 Subdivision Permit
- Example: Turning land into lots including new boundaries and or expanding existing boundaries.
Traditional Land Use Inventory (TLUI) Permit Instructions:
- Form 500 Cultural Resource Clearance Instructions
- Example: Earth-moving activity (including placement of a new structure that covers previously undisturbed ground) and the clearance process for ice roads and seismic surveys.
- Form 600 Request for TLUI Resource Instructions
- Example: Educational Use: if the resource or information in the resource is being used as part of an educational curriculum associated with a particular institution and the information will not be included in any written or published material; Industry Use: information gathered for use by an industry applicant; Government Use: information gathered is for official government business; Scientific Research Use: information gathered is for a scientific study or research program that is conducted by a person/entity other than an industry or government.
Residential Development Permit Instructions:
- Form 700 (Anaktuvuk Pass, Atqasuk, Kaktovik, Nuiqsut, Point Hope, Point Lay & Wainwright – report to the Planning Commission) and Form 800 (Utqiaġvik report to the Utqiaġvik Zoning Commission) District Residential Instructions
- Example: approval for residential developments and uses in the village zoning districts; gravel fill for driveway or parking area; digging for foundation and building homes within the boundaries.
