Services provided by Community Health Divisions are direct and population-based services to the North Slope communities.

 

These include the following divisions:

  • Community Health Aide Program
      • Provides outpatient and emergency medical care to community members where a hospital is not available via medical traffic with a provider.
  • Public Health Nursing
      • Provides immunizations
      • Addresses current public health concerns
  • Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Nutrition Program
      • Provides nutrition education, breastfeeding support and education, and healthy foods to eligible participants.
        • Children younger than 5
        • Foster children younger than 5
        • Pregnant women,
        • New moms and babies
  • Public Health Office/Veterinary Clinic
      • Provides emergency and appointment-based medical care for domesticated animals
      • Addresses rabies control for the North Slope
  • Emergency Shelter and Case Management
      • Provides temporary shelter and case management.
