The North Slope Borough’s regular election is Tuesday, October 6, 2026.
Polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Residents can vote for Borough leadership, including the mayor, representatives for five assembly seats and three seats on the school board, and on 11 bond propositions supporting community facilities and infrastructure.
In-person early absentee voting is available from September 21 through October 5. Village polling locations are listed below; Utqiaġvik early voting is at the Borough Clerk’s Office.

Who can vote?
Voters must be U.S. citizens qualified to vote in Alaska elections, have lived in the Borough for the 30 days immediately before the election, and have been registered to vote at a residence address within the municipality at least 30 days before the election. Contact the Borough Clerk’s Office with questions about identification or your eligibility.
Voting by mail?
The September 29 deadline to request a mailed absentee ballot has passed. If you already have one, follow all ballot instructions. Your ballot must be postmarked by October 6 and received by the Borough election official by October 12.
