KAKTOVIK WATER RESPONSE | COMMUNITY UPDATE, OCTOBER 1
Quyanaq to everyone who attended Tuesday’s(9/29) Town Hall and to the Kaktovik community for your questions, concerns, and continued engagement.
A reminder that the Do Not Drink Order has been LIFTED, and Kaktovik’s community water is safe to drink.
Our primary goal is and has been to provide the community with safe, clean drinking water and to continue meeting the life-safety needs of Kaktovik residents.
Moving forward, the North Slope Borough Public Works Department is taking proactive steps to strengthen the water system, including:
- Regular testing for glycol in the water system
- Additional maintenance and inspections
- Necessary facility improvements and upgrades
These efforts will be applied across the North Slope to support safe and reliable community water systems.
We remain committed to doing what is necessary to support the health and well-being of Kaktovik—and all North Slope residents.
KaktovikWater.org will continue to serve as a central source for the latest water system news, announcements, updates, and other information related to the response.
Thank you to our partners who have supported the Kaktovik water response, including Ukpeaġvik Iñupiat Corporation, Iñupiat Community of the Arctic Slope, Arctic Slope Native Association, Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, Alaska Department of Health, and the North Slope Borough School District.
