The Community Planning and Development Division is responsible for the Borough and village comprehensive land use plans, the subdivision and platting process and capital improvement program planning. To carryout these responsibilities, the Community Planning Division engages in the following activities:
initiating, completing and updating village comprehensive plans;

participating in the Borough 6 Year CIP Plan and leading the annual update process;
managing subdivision activities under Title 18 and assisting in the recordation of land title;

participating in the update of NSB subdivision and zoning codes (Title 18 and 19);.

Monitoring and updating the Borough Comprehensive Plan on an as needed basis.
The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) section is also situated within the Community Planning Division. GIS is involved in the following activities:
compiling and maintaining accurate and up-to-date spatial data

offering maps and mapping and printing services to the public

creating and distributing maps and related resources that assist the NSB with documenting, monitoring and managing land and natural resources needed by Borough departments and government agencies, including federal and state agencies

•providing GIS-related educational assistance to the North Slope Borough School District
